* Grace L. Knott’s “Baby Nightie”
* Spechler-Vogel’s blue Japanese lawn
* Capitol Imports’ baby lace
* Beautiful Buttons’ square mother-of-pearl buttons
* DMC floss in snow white (B5200), very light blue green (504), and ultra pale yellow (3823)

Row 1½: Using DMC snow white (B5200) floss, begin with an up cable on the center two pleats of Row 1½. Cable across to the end of row. Turn work; cable across to complete row.

Row 2: Using DMC snow white (B5200) floss, begin with a down cable on the center two pleats of Row 2. Cable across to the end of row. Turn work; cable across to complete row.

Row 3: Find center two pleats on Row 3 and using DMC snow white (B5200) floss, cable one; baby wave up to Row 2¾; cable; baby wave down to Row 3. Repeat cable/wave combination across row. Turn work. Repeat wave/cable combination to complete row.

Row 3: From center two pleats and using DMC snow white (B5200) floss, cable one directly under previous cable; 3-step trellis down to Row 4; cable; 3-step trellis up to Row 3. Repeat cable/trellis combination across row ending with a 2-step trellis down to Row 3½. Turn work. Repeat trellis/cable combination ending with a 2-step trellis up to Row 3½ to complete row.

Row 6: Using DMC snow white (B5200) floss and beginning at center two cables on Row 6, cable one; 3-step trellis up to Row 5; cable; 3-step trellis down to Row 6. Repeat cable/trellis combination across row ending with a 2-step trellis up to Row 5½. Turn work. Repeat trellis/cable combination ending with a 2-step trellis down to Row 5½ to complete row.

Row 6: From center two pleats and using DMC snow white (B5200) floss, cable one directly under previous cable; baby wave down to Row 6¼; cable; baby wave up to Row 6. Repeat cable/wave combination across row ending with a 2-step trellis down to Row 6¼. Turn work. Repeat wave/cable combination ending with a 2-step trellis up to Row 6¼ to complete row.

Embroidery: Complete the design by adding six cable flowerettes on Row 2½ and Row 4½

in DMC ultra pale yellow (3823). Work lazy daisy leaves in DMC very light blue green (504) to finish the flowerettes.
