Instructions (for small or large pillow)
Note: All seams are 1/4".

1. Trace pattern (click here) onto each Swiss batiste square. Do not cut out at this time.

2. Trace desired embroidery design (click here) onto one of the Swiss batiste squares.

3. Place an Imperial batiste square behind each Swiss batiste square. Baste in seam allowance of traced pillow and around outer edges of fabric.

4. Embroider using Embroidery Legend. When embroidery is complete, spritz fabric with water; place right side down on white towel and press well.

5. If center lace rosette is desired, stitch 8" piece of lace edging into circle. Pull thread in heading and gather. Whip center together by hand to hold gathers in place. Stitch in place in center of embroidery.

6. Cut out both pillow pieces, keeping linings basted to Swiss batiste.

7. Pin front and back pieces, right sides together. Stitch around outside edge using 1/4" seam allowance and leaving a 1 1/2" - 2" opening for turning. Notch curves. Turn and press. Note: Seam allowance may be basted to pillow back to prevent a shadow on front of finished pillow. A wooden chopstick is helpful in this process. Insert chopstick into opening and gently push seam allowance against pillow back. Baste seam to back using tiny stitches.

8. Lightly stuff pillow with polyester fiberfill. Stitch opening closed.

9. Mark center of 1/8" ribbon. Stitch onto pillow at ribbon center with tiny stitches, placing as desired. Trim ribbon to desired length. After pillow is complete, secure baby jewelry to pillow with ribbon.

Entredeux and Lace Finish (for small or large pillow)
1. Measure around outside edge of pillow. Cut one piece of entredeux this measurement plus 1/4".

2. Trim selvage from one side of entredeux. Attach gathered lace edging by hand or machine to trimmed side of entredeux, extending lace at each end 1/2".

3. Trim remaining selvage from entredeux. Join entredeux/lace into circle by overlapping end holes of entredeux. Whip together by hand. Turn under ends of lace edging and whip by hand.
4. Place entredeux circle around pillow at seam. Whip entredeux to pillow seam by hand.

Lace and Coral Stitch Finish (for small pillow)
1. Seam a 20" piece of lace into circle. Pull thread in heading to gather.

2. Whip lace by hand around pillow at seam.

3. Work coral stitch just above seamline on front of pillow.

Coral Stitch:
1. Bring needle out at A.

2. Working from right to left, take needle down at B and out at C. Loop thread over and under needle as illustrated. Pull needle through fabric and gently tighten thread knot.

3. Continue working evenly spaced knots.
