61/4 yds. 1/8"-wide double-faced satin ribbon (for rosette)
2 yds. lace edging
1 yd. lace beading
1 yd. lace insertion
151/2" length of 3/4"-wide elastic (adjust measurement as
whiteneeded to fit)
Pearls
Cut two 1-yd. lengths of 1"-wide satin ribbon. With a straight stitch sew edges together. Press, making sure ribbon lies straight and flat.

Cut one 1-yd. length of lace edging. Using a straight stitch, sew edging to one side of ribbon, slightly overlapping headings, forming casing for elastic. Press.

weddinggarter2Cut one 1-yd. length of lace insertion. Using a straight stitch, sew lace insertion to the remaining edge of ribbon. Press.

Cut one 1-yd. length of lace beading. Sew beading to lace insertion (side by side) using a narrow zigzag stitch. Press.

Sew remaining yard of lace edging to beading using a narrow zigzag stitch. Press.

Weave 1 yard of 1/8"-wide ribbon through beading.

weddinggarter3Adjust length of elastic according to desired leg measurement, allowing for stretching. Run elastic through ribbon casing. Using a straight stitch, sew side seam, securing elastic in seam. Trim seam to 1/8". Zigzag seam in place. Gently press seam to flatten.

For knotted rosette: Using the remaining 5 yds. of 1/8"-wide ribbon, form loop knots at 2" intervals. Leave approximately 5" at ends before making first knot and end knot.

With a long doubled thread, fold ribbon between knots and stitch 1/4" from each fold. Pull up to form rosette.

Fold remaining 1/4 yd in half. Tack to back of rosette. Make knots as desired in ribbon streamers. Tack rosette to garter, as shown.

Sew pearls between holes of lace beading, securing 1/8"-wide ribbon in place. Tack small loops of pearl strands in middle of rosette.

Optional: Embroider bride's initials in outline or satin stitch on a 3" length of the 1"-wide ribbon. Stitch initialed ribbon to inside of garter over seam.
