Bring ribbon up at A and form loop.
Insert needle at B, coming up at C.
Keep ribbon flat. Bring needle over ribbon, anchoring stitch at D.
Fill stitch with another color by coming up at A and inserting needle just below C.

Bring needle up at A, and down at B.

Bring needle up at A. Wrap ribbon around needle, pulling ribbon close to needle.
Go down one or two threads from A. Hold knot in place while pulling needle through fabric.

| Bring needle up at A, making sure ribbon is flat.
Insert needle at B, pulling needle gently through to back. Top edge
of ribbon will curl inward to form petal or leaf. |

Bring needle up at A, and down at B, making sure ribbon is flat, forming a small straight stitch.
Bring needle up close to A, wrapping straight stitch with two or three wraps, keeping ribbon flat.
Pull needle through to back on last wrap, anchoring ribbon.

| With embroidery floss or floche, stitch an anchor
for rose with a fly stitch: come up at A, down at B, bring needle
over thread, coming up again at C; insert needle at D, forming a Y.
Add equal stitches to both sides, forming five spokes. With ribbon,
come up at C, weaving ribbon over and under spokes in a counter-clockwise
direction, twisting ribbon as you work. Continue weaving until all
spokes are covered. Anchor ribbon. |
